I think most of you can agree with me when I say that the weekends are just never long enough. They are especially never long enough whenever Brett and I actually have the weekend off together.
This past weekend was very fun and busy for the both of us. I was informed on Friday afternoon that our office was allowed to leave before the close of business due to the icy weather conditions. Since Brett was out running errands, I was able to work on the design of the blog a bit more once I got home. Speaking of which, I will not go live with the new design until I am completely finished. Sorry guys, but it’s the smoothest way to transition all the data the blog contains.
On Friday evening we entertained Brett’s co-worker Ryan and his wife Angie. I have to say that this night was the highlight of my weekend!
They are such a fun couple to be around and we really enjoyed spending quality time with the both of them.
There is Brett and I posing in front of our newly installed French doors. We actually installed these earlier in 2013 and they are honestly the biggest improvement to our home thus far.
Brett grilled steaks for everyone and we also enjoyed roasted asparagus and a Caesar salad as our sides.
The food was amazing, but the best part of the evening came later.
Have you guys ever heard of the game Heads Up!? Well, it’s the best dollar I’ve spent in a while. Heads Up! is the fun and hilarious game from Ellen DeGeneres that she plays on her show with celebrity guest. You hold up your tablet or phone to your head or chest and try to guess from clues your friends give you. There is also a video feature, so you can relive the craziness after each round.
We had so much fun and were able to capture some hilarious moments with the camera.
Wow, I can’t even imagine what we’re trying to describe in this picture.
Sometimes the words are quite difficult to act out or describe, so you can simply tilt the tablet or phone up when you need to pass. Looks like we’re having difficulties in the above picture.
Not only is the game super fun, but it also keeps you moving throughout the night. At one point I caught myself sweating and today I noticed bruises on my knees from sudden drops to the ground that night. I loved that the game incorporated physical activity.
So, the next time you have guest over to your house, be sure to download this wonderful app. It’s a game that everyone can enjoy. Saturday morning we received a text from Ryan that he and Angie had a wonderful time at the house and we also agreed that this night was one to remember.
Later Saturday afternoon, Brett and I headed to his hometown, Morgan City. Once we made it into town, we had afternoon coffee and caught up with his parents, sister-in-law – Lauren, Uncle Tralles and cousin Adam. Brett makes an annual rabbit hunt with most of his male family members and this was the main reason for our visit.
Although we make our best efforts to visit with everyone, we don’t always get to see all of his family and friends. After dinner, we were able to visit with another one of Brett’s uncles. Brett’s Uncle Chris is always a blast to be around and we were excited to teach him how to navigate his newly purchased iPad. He was completely floored with the cool features of the iPad and we’re eagerly anticipating a Face time chat with him in the near future. Thanks for the hospitality Uncle Chris and remember to give us a call if you have any further questions.
Since the guys had to wake up pretty early for the hunt, everyone in the Michel residence went to bed pretty early last night. When I woke up this morning I was able to get some snuggle time with Ava while we watched a bit of television on the couch. Lauren and Brett’s mom, Mrs. Tessie, got to work in the kitchen and whipped us up an excellent breakfast. We had scrabbled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and most importantly COFFEE!
Since Brett’s brother and sister-in-law live in Lafayette, I was able to hitch a ride back home with Lauren since the boys would not be done with their hunt until later in the evening. Thanks again for the ride home Lauren and an even bigger thanks for the Facebook shout-out today for the blog!
Once I got home, my breakfast was down to my toes, so I decided to reheat some leftovers. This past Thursday I made hamburger soup, a recipe that I found on The Pioneer Woman’s blog. This recipe is filled with vegetables and I also made sure to use lean ground meat. I loved this soup since it was hearty and nutritious, not to mention just as good reheated.
After eating, I ironed clothes for the week, did some laundry and went to the grocery store. I also found a package in my mailbox from Old Navy.
Last week, I had received a coupon from Old Navy so I decided to purchase some new workout pieces. I also received free shipping since I spent a certain amount online. Old Navy has a great line of activewear and the pricing is also easy on your wallet. The jacket pictured below even has thumb holes, a new feature I’ve been seeing on long-sleeved pullovers. The thumb holes allow the material to cover most of your hands which I think is ideal for those that may run or walk outdoors.
Just before I headed out to the store I received a text from Brett that contained a picture of all the rabbits he and his family brought home from their hunt. I predict rabbit stew as a possible meal this week. Poor little bunny rabbits!
Sorry if I offended any animal lovers, but I must warn you guys that Brett is pretty serious when it comes to hunting wild game.
I checked the weather forecast for the week and it looks as though we have more frosty weather heading our way. So, once again, please be safe and stay warm.
Although the weekend is coming to a close, I’m looking forward to getting back into my normal routine. Unfortunately, my weekend lacked vegetables and exercise so I’m ready to face the upcoming week in full force!
